View / GANNT / Tools / Working time

 

Organize Task list - chunk

            Deliverables/Milestones/Duration

            GANTT view/Tasks name/Tab/M-W-D-H-Minutes or

            Task name field/Task notes

 

Milestone – use 0 days

Project/Task info/Advanced/Milestone

            Project / Filtered for  - complete critical data

            Summary / Task Range / Estimate / Resources

 

Reoccurring Task - e.g. Weekly Meetings

Insert / Reoccurring / Below Task name Duration / Reoccurrence patter

 

Structure into logical outline – you can insert up to 65,000 tasks

            View / GANTT / Insert New / Summary into Task Name

            In the Task name field select what you want as the Summary item

            Select al the items you want in the Task list (select one and the click Shift or Control select list.)

            Click on the INDENT Arrow at the top of the screen. The right one.

            This will then identify the Summary Task and all the Tasks. A + will show the Summary has tasks

 

Edit Task List

To reverse this process (delete the Summary and list) Select, I.D. Task Field / choose items from task list and click on left arrow.

View / Task name / Shift or control / Copy – Cut  - or Delete

 

Set Start Dates -  / Finish  - inflexible Dates

            Task Name screen / Task info Advanced / Constraint Box – SNET or FNET

            Task Name / Task info / Predecessor / Lag Column

 

Other methods:

 

            Use XL spreadsheets for individual Task lists if MS project not available.  You can select different type of lines, add arrows onto the ends of the lines, and set time frames on horizontal axis.

 

            Use PowerPoint to create your WBS charts. MS does not support producing Charts, its uses the GANTT

with Task list set sequentially to show hierarchy.  In PowerPoint select Insert / New Slide / Select the slide with the Small picture of an Organization Chart / Type in your headings as indicated  /Select from the boxes with lines at top / Click on a box  / Click on where you want to Enter that box to add to your WBS/ Enter the name of the new box.
